I write poetry in the specialised forms of haiku, cherita, senryu, tanka, haibun and other short form verse. I began writing contemporary poetry first and then I discovered short form poetry and felt an immediate connection to how much can be expressed by these types of poems.
Studies have shown that reading short form poetry such as haiku and tanka , assist with a person’s emotional and mental well-being.
My published collections of poetry include a collection of contemporary poetry (Flarestack Publishing), one haiku collection (Hub Editions), one tanka collection (‘Every Star’ available on Amazon) one haiku and tanka collection (‘Book Patronus’ available on Amazon, and three Cherita collections (River Lanterns, Moonset Song and Love’s Scriptures - available on Amazon). I have won several awards in competitions and have been on the Touchstone shortlist for individual haiku in 2020 and the Touchstone Longlist for Haibun in 2025. I was in ‘telling the bees: The Red Moon Anthology of English-Language Haiku 2024, edited by Jim Kacian and the Red Moon Editorial Staff and in Turtle Dreams: The Red Moon Anthology of English Language Haiku 2025. My short form poetry of haiku, tanka, Haibun and Cherita appear widely both in print and online journals.
